Founded in 1851, the Washington Sängerbund is the oldest German organization in the Washington, DC area. As a singing society we perform concerts of German music, and also participate at other musical events, often accompanied by vocal solo and instrumental performers,.
Our regular annual concert program includes the Spring Concert in April and the Fall Concert in November; on the Sunday before Christmas we present a traditional “Deutsches Weihnachtskonzert” - German Christmas Concert at the “Vereinigte Kirche” - United Church on 20th and G St., NW in Washington, DC.
In addition we hold other large annual events. On a Saturday early in the year (Faschings Samstag), our “Faschingsball” - Mardi Gras draws hundreds of costumed revelers to the fabulous Grand Ballroom at 9001 Arlington Blvd., Fairfax, VA. Delicious German food and beverages are available, costume prizes are awarded and we dance for hours to great live music!
In September and October you can find us selling authentic German food, sausages, cakes and souvenirs at several area Oktoberfests.
