Es ist das deutsche Lied, das seit mehr als 150 Jahren die Mitgliedschöre des Nordöstlichen Sängerbundes (NOSB) alle drei Jahre zum traditionellen Sängerfest zusammenführt. Diese Sängerfeste dienen nicht nur zur Aufrechterhaltung und Weiterführung der chormusikalischen Beziehungen, sondern sie sorgen auch dafür, dass wir unsere Geschichte und Tradition nicht vergessen werden. Nun feiert der Nordöstliche Sängerbund sein 50. Sängerfest im Jahre 2009. Dieses Fest, ein bedeutender Meilenstein in der Geschichte des NOSB - wird in der Landeshauptstadt Washington, DC stattfinden. Stolze Gastgeber dieses historischen Geschehens sind die Mitglieder des Washington Sängerbundes (WSB). Als Präsident und besonders im Namen der Mitglieder des WSB ist es für mich eine grosse Ehre, alle Freunde des deutschen Liedes zu diesem festlichen Ereignis von Herzen willkommen zu heissen. Unser Festkomitee ist bemüht, ein gebührendes Programm für das dreitägige Sängerfest zu präsentieren. Die Festbesucher werden nicht nur Gelegenheit zum Singen und zum Fördern des deutschen Liedgutes haben, sondern auch ihre langjährigen Freunde wiedersehen, neue Freundschaften schliessen und vor allen Dingen ein geselliges Beisammensein mit viel Gemütlichkeit geniessen. Ich hoffe, dass unsere Bemühungen zum Erfolg führen, die Festbesucher mit positiven Eindrücken und Erinnerungen in ihre Heimat zurückkehren und mit voller Erwartung und Vorfreude dem 51. It is the German song that has - for more than 150 years – brought together every three years the member choruses of the Nordöstlicher Sängerbund of America (NOSB). The purpose of these Sängerfests is not only to preserve the continuance of the German choral music, but also to ensure that we do not forget our musical history and tradition. Now, in 2009, the Nordöstlicher Sängerbund will celebrate its 50th Sängerfest – an important milestone in the history of NOSB. This three-day Fest will be held in the nation’s capital, Washington, DC. The proud hosts of this historic event are the members of the Washington Sängerbund (WSB). As President and especially in the name of the members of WSB, it is a great honor to extend a warm and special welcome to all friends of the German song to this festive event. Our Fest committee strives to present a program befitting this special Sängerfest. The visitors will not only have the opportunity to sing and promote the German song, but also will see long-time friends again, make new ones, and most of all, enjoy a social gathering and lots of Gemütlichkeit. My hope is that our efforts to make you feel welcome will be successful, that the Fest participants will return home with positive impressions and fond memories, and, with anticipation, look forward to the 51st Sängerfest in 2012.
