Dear Friends of the Washington Sängerbund!
printable letter to Friends (pdf file)
As many of you will remember, the year 2009 has been an extraordinarily busy one for our organization.
The 50th Jubilee Sängerfest of the Nordöstlicher Sängerbund, hosted by the Washington
Sängerbund last May, was most successful, surpassing everyone’s expectations greatly. It was
highly praised by all participants and it even received a favorable newspaper mention in Germany.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, however, the overall cost was substantially higher than the income
generated by this gala celebration in our nation’s capital. Despite the hard work and dedication of our singing and non-singing members throughout the year,
their efforts to keep the WSB’s expenses down were not enough to compensate for all the costs such
as the conductor’s salary, rental of the rehearsal hall, concerts including: venue rental and the hiring
of orchestra and soloists, music acquisition, insurance, office supplies, printing, and postage to list
but a few.
We understand that the current economic situation is challenging and times are hard for everyone
right now, but we still depend on your contributions to sustain our musical programs and supporting
operations. The Washington Sängerbund continually strives to promote German song, music, and
culture. As do so many other cultural organizations from different parts of the world, we need to
promote the remarkable achievements made to America by our German-American forebears and to
preserve our cultural heritage for future generations.
So dear friends, once again as in the past, I am asking you for your generous contributions so that
the Washington Sängerbund can continue to promote German song and culture in America.
Friends (donations of $25 to $49)
Contributors (donations of $50 to $99)
Sponsors (donations of $100 to $249)
Benefactors (donations of $250 to $499)
Patrons (donations of $500 to $999)
Sustaining Members or Corporate Members (donations of $1000 and higher)
With German song in our hearts, the Washington Sängerbund and I thank you very much for your continuing support and wish you the very best.
Sincerely yours,
Bernhard Wenzel
President
